It’s a great workout

Mountain biking provides a whole-body workout.

This is due to the uneven terrain that riders cycle on. The skills needed to balance the bike on uneven terrain helps with strengthening abdominal and core muscles. Riding uphill can be tough work but it is also a great upper body workout. Mountain biking really is a full-body workout. Studies completed have found that it can burn up to 1,000 calories per hour.

A study from Illinois University has found that cycling has caused a 15% increase on mental tests. An increase in brain cells in the memory part of the brain, the hippocampus, is part of the reason why exercise and mountain biking helps to fight off Alzheimer’s.
